Alexis Galano, BS

Alexis Galano earned her Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of California, San Diego. She is interested in the study of medical science with an emphasis on pathology and epidemiology. Alexis hopes to gain experience in medical research and take part in collaborative opportunities. In her work, Alexis aims to improve healthcare strategies and outcomes through the advancement of diagnostic procedures, treatments, and therapies. While at IBHRI, she will be working on a project investigating the intersection of HIV and cancer and the impact of this comorbidity on mental health. In her free time, she loves to go on hikes, play volleyball, and try out new recipes to cook and bake. After her internship with IBHRI, Alexis will be working towards attending a NAACLS Accredited Training Program for Pathologists’ Assistants to obtain a Master’s degree in Health Science.
