Key Responsibilities:

  1. Fiscal Oversight:

    • Participate in the development and oversight of the organization’s budget, financial policies, and procedures.

    • Review and approve annual budgets, financial statements, and audit reports.

    • Ensure the financial health and sustainability of IBHRI through diligent oversight.

  2. Governance and Strategic Planning:

    • Attend and actively participate in board meetings, the annual meeting, and special meetings as needed.

    • Contribute to the development and implementation of IBHRI’s strategic plan, ensuring alignment with our mission and goals.

    • Monitor and evaluate the organization’s progress toward achieving strategic objectives.

  3. Fundraising and Resource Development:

    • Support IBHRI’s fundraising efforts by contributing personally and encouraging donations from your network.

    • Participate in fundraising events, campaigns, and donor outreach efforts.

    • Assist in identifying and securing new funding opportunities, including grants, partnerships, and sponsorships.

  4. Advocacy and Outreach:

    • Act as an ambassador for IBHRI, representing the organization at events, conferences, and in the broader community.

    • Advocate for behavioral health research and policy initiatives that align with IBHRI’s mission.

    • Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including academic institutions, healthcare providers, policymakers, and community organizations to support IBHRI and its internship program.

  5. Compliance and Legal Oversight:

    • Ensure that IBHRI complies with all applicable laws, regulations, and ethical standards.

    • Review and approve major organizational policies, including conflict of interest policies and bylaws.

  6. Collaboration and Teamwork:

    • Work collaboratively with fellow board members and IBHRI staff to achieve the organization’s goals.

    • Participate in board committees and task forces as needed, contributing your expertise to special projects.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for behavioral health or education and a commitment to the mission of IBHRI.

  • Experience in nonprofit finance, fiscal oversight, or financial management preferred.

  • Background in behavioral health, public health, healthcare, research, education, or a related field is a plus.

  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to commit to attending quarterly board meetings, the annual meeting, and additional meetings as necessary.

  • Willingness to contribute financially to IBHRI and participate in fundraising efforts.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend quarterly board meetings (approximately 2-3 hours each).

  • Attend the annual meeting (full day).

  • Participate in committee work and special projects as needed.

Term Length:

  • Board Directors typically serve a 3-year term, with the possibility of renewal for an additional term.
